GENERAL HOTELS COUNTING DOWN TO LAUNCH OF 3 NEW HOTELS IN FLORIDA
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – June 18, 2024 – As the year is approaching the half-way point, General Hotels Corporation (GHC) has successfully opened 2 of the 6 new hotel construction projects scheduled this year with multiple projects already in development for 2025. This illustrates the company’s current strategic focus on growth and territorial footprint.
The Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Whitestown Indianapolis NW opened on January 31st in a northwest Indianapolis suburb only 20 minutes from the GHC headquarters, while a second Fairfield Inn & Suites opened on April 9th a little farther away in the heart of Bourbon Country in Shelbyville, KY.
The next three openings will launch a major initiative and focused return to hotel development and management in the state of Florida. Scheduled to open in time for Labor Day Weekend, TownePlace Suites in Estero, FL, located at Exit 128 just off I-75 at Alico Road, will provide easy access to the Southwest Florida International Airport and Miromar Outlets.
On the opposite side of the state, GHC will begin welcoming guests at two hotels this year in the Florida Space Coast community of Viera, FL. Homewood Suites by Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn are both under construction in the highly sought after Borrows West development near the USSSA Space Coast Stadium Complex. Homewood Suites will open in the fall and the Hilton Garden Inn is expected to open by the end of the year. The Hilton Garden Inn will feature meeting space as well as a rooftop bar, an ideal spot to watch rocket launches along the space coast.
Numerous other Florida markets and hotel brands are currently in development including a Home 2 Suites by Hilton planned for the Heritage Harbour Golf Resort in Bradenton.
Also under construction is a Home 2 Suites by Hilton in Reynoldsburg, OH. This project is a Construction & FFE project for the Hospitality Project Services team, General Hotels Corporation’s separate construction management company.
“General Hotels was founded in 1962 with a commitment to hospitality excellence.” said Jim Dora, Jr. General Hotels President and CEO. “Decades later our strength in hotel management along with our expanded development and construction project management divisions have afforded us this opportunity for growth. I am confident in the strength and experience of our Executive Committee leadership team. Their abilities along with the dedication and hard work of our entire GHC team will propel us to even greater heights of success in the future.”
The GHC Executive Committee is responsible for the vision and direction of the company. The EC is led by Jim Dora, Jr., second-generation Owner and CEO and comprised of a seasoned team of hospitality leaders which includes Cindy Kurtz, Executive Vice President of Operations; Trina Black, Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing; Melissa Gose, CFO & EVP of Finance; Stacie Vercellino, Vice President of Operations; Gina Kevin, Vice President of Sales & Revenue Management; Brian Kelley, Vice President of Finance; and Bob Armstrong, Vice President of Construction.
