Our History


Headquartered in Indianapolis, IN, General Hotels Corporation was founded in 1962 by the late James E. Dora, Sr.  After opening Holiday Inn Terre Haute, IN as the first of his many Indiana Holiday Inn franchises, he continued to develop and operate hotels across Indiana under IHG, Hilton and Marriott brands. 

His properties have consistently garnered design and service excellence awards through the years. Jim's core values of integrity and respect, coupled with his gracious spirit of hospitality, continue to serve as the foundation and guiding principles of General Hotels Corporation.
